Choiseul Province is made up of three main islands that include Choiseul, which is commonly referred to as Lauru by people from the island, Vaghena and Rob Roy. The province also administers the Falkie Atoll.

Guadalcanal Province was named by Pedro de Ortega Valencia, born in the village of Guadalcanal in the Seville region of Spain. Honiara, the Solomon Islands capital and largest city is located on the island, however, in July 1983 it was designated as a 22 km2 Capital Territory, administered by the Honiara City Council (HCC) and is no longer considered part of the province.
The island was the scene of a ferocious fighting during World War 2 known as the Guadalcanal Campaign.

Makira-Ulawa Province comprises of a main island called Makira (San Cristobal) and smaller islanding include Ulawa, Uki ni Masi, Owaraha (Santa Ana), Owariki (Santa Catalina), Pio and others.

Malaita Province is one of the largest provinces in the Solomon Islands and is named after the province’s largest island, Malaita which is surrounded by the province’s smaller islands of Maramasike, Siakiana and Ontong Java Atoll.

Rennell and Bellona comprises of two inhabited atolls, Rennell and Bellona, referred to as Mugava and Mungiki respectively in the Polynesian dialect of the islands’ inhabitants. The province also has an uninhabited Indispensible Reef and is considered as a Polynesian Outlier since both islands are inhabited by people of Polynesian descent.

Rennell and Bellona Province Premier
Temotu is the easternmost province of the Solomon Islands and was formerly known as Santa Cruz Islands Province. The province borders the western region of the Vanuatu archipelago and is made up of two chains of scattered, mostly low lying islands which run parallel to each in a northwest to the southeast direction.
